Meet Our Single and Dual Motor Riser Recliner Chairs

There are lots of practical and physical benefits to buying a recliner chair. However, it is not a one size fits all. At Morris Living our riser recliner range extends to single and dual motor riser recliner chairs. If you have never bought one before, you may have no idea what you are looking for in a riser recliner. There are so many different choices of design and functions for these types of chairs, which may overwhelm you when it comes to finding the perfect riser recliner for your own personal needs.

We have collated a list of the most frequently asked questions our sales team receive to help you to understand more about the primary features of riser recliner chairs and decide which will suit you the best:

Which is better - single motor or dual motor riser recliner?

This depends on what functions you are looking for. The single motor chairs allow you to raise the footrest and recline the backrest using a single set of buttons. In many ways, our customers find them easier to use. However, this does not make it better for everyone, per say. The main issue that arises is that you cannot sit with your feet fully up and have your back supported at the same time. Simply put, as soon as the footrest of a single motor riser recliner is fully horizontal, the backrest has already started reclining.

With a dual motor recliner chair, there are two separate motors, so the backrest and footrest are both operated using different controls. Therefore, dual motors provide more flexibility. This is not to say that every customer wants to sit like that, and so in some cases, a single motor riser recliner may be optimal.

Which is cheaper?

For many of our customers, finding a chair that offers comfort and value is a top priority. At Morris Living, we are always very honest when it comes to spending your money and we can say that our range of single motor chairs is very often more accessible and cheaper for most of our customers.

Should I choose fabric or leather?

As with most types of furniture, you will need to choose between fabric and leather. There are pros and cons of both, so it is down to personal preference. Fabric is warmer than leather but usually more difficult to clean, however you may be able to choose a fabric stain guard cover.

You will have more choice of colours and patterns with fabric, so if you have an interior décor to complement, fabric might give you more options. However, many people feel that a leather finish looks more luxurious, so it depends on your taste and whether you have pets and children who could damage the chair.

Can I get VAT exemption?

One of the key benefits of buying a riser recliner is the support it provides for health conditions such as arthritis, circulatory problems, and high blood pressure. Due to this, people who suffer with certain medical conditions can save money, as they do not have to pay VAT.

At Morris Living, the riser recliner prices have the VAT removed as many of our customers do qualify for this exemption. When purchasing a riser recliner chair from us, we simply ask that you return your VAT exemption form to us with confirmation of your condition.

How much room does a recliner chair require?

Usually when you buy a new item of furniture, you will just need to look at the dimensions to check that the length and width is suitable to fit into your available space. With a recliner chair, you also need to factor in enough space to be able to recline the chair to the angle that you will be using, which could be reclining the backrest all the way to lying down position. You also need to ensure there is enough room to be able to extend the footrest.

Should I choose a heat and massage function?

Recliners such as our Henley riser offers the choice of having a heat and massage function. This is ideal for helping health issues such as poor circulation and stress relief but this function also costs a lot more, so it depends on how much you want to spend.

Morris Living has an enormous range of single and dual motor rise recliner chairs to choose from. Find your perfect recliner chair with the design and budget to suit your requirements.
